Description

What you can expect in a Yoga Therapy Session:

Before your first session, you will fill out a questionnaire with a brief overview of your health history, past yoga experience, goals, challenges, and lifestyle. Each private yoga therapy session will begin with a  “check-in”  in which you observe the body and mind in the present moment (this may be in the form of a body scan meditation). Your specific needs that day determine the flow of the session. Yoga therapy sessions look very different from one client to another. I tailor the session to each client; honoring and supporting each person’s own journey.

Depending on your specific goals and needs, yoga therapy sessions can include any of these tools:

Yoga:  Vinyasa or Hatha Yoga (movement with the breath)
Yin or Restorative Yoga (longer holds and deeper stretches)

Adaptive/Chair yoga

Trauma Informed yoga

Breathwork

Meditation & mindfulness techniques

Functional strength training

Stretch and range of motion exercises

Somatic movement (slow, meditative movement that trains the body to move in a more functional way)

Journaling or self-reflection exercises

Yoga philosophy

Mantra or affirmation

Assistance in creating a home yoga practice

Awareness of holistic nutrition
