Have you been intrigued by breathwork but feel a bit intimidated? I know I am intimidated by the breath! It can be a tricky thing; it is subtle and illusive! However, the more that I have been practicing breathwork, the more I understand why it is so important!
Our nervous system seems to be in a constant state of fight or flight. We are too stressed out, and since we remain in this stressed state for extended periods of time, this can lead to physical, emotional, and/or mental dis-ease, weakened immune system, and a lack of mental focus, among other things. That is why it is incredibly important to help bring our body and mind out of the fight or flight response and into a more relaxed state of being. Breathwork helps to stimulate the vagus nerve, which is the nerve that connects the brain to the body. When we take a deep breath, it signals to the brain via the vagus nerve that we are getting too ramped up and need to calm down, and so our brain sends signals to calm the body down.
This workshop is an INTRO to breathwork, so it is made for beginners! In this workshop we will:
Discuss several different types of essential breathwork
Discuss the purpose and benefits specific to each type
Learn which type is best to implement for specific times of day and/or daily stressors
Practice each type together
Discuss potential challenges we may run into (or have already) with breathwork and learn possible solutions.
